Dr. Sami Straits

Dr. Sami Straits is a 2021 graduate from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Straits grew up in Coshocton County on her family farm and found a love for veterinary medicine at an early age…the rest is history.

Dr. Straits is a mixed animal practitioner with a true love for equine performance and reproductive medicine. In her free time she enjoys going to rodeos, camping, and traveling to the mountains. Dr. Straits is looking forward to bringing large animal medicine back to Coshocton County in an upgraded fashion, as well as caring for companion animals.

Dr. Megan Canel

Dr. Megan Canel is a 2023 graduate from the University of California, Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. She was born and raised in California and spent summers with family in Guernsey County. After spending the past year out in western Ohio, she is excited to move to the area and join the team.

She is a mixed animal practitioner with an interest in small animal surgery and beef cattle production. In her free time she enjoys gardening, cooking, and traveling all across the US with family and her dog Ellie.

Darby Cognion started with A-1 Vet Care in January of 2022. She is the Practice Manager. Darby and her husband Todd enjoy camping, spending time with family and friends, and Ohio State Football. Darby has two children. Her daughter, Jordan, just graduated from Ohio University with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy. Her son, Cole, will be a senior at Kent State University majoring in Parks and Recreation Management with plans to become a National Park Ranger or a game warden. Her family has an 11-month-old Bernedoodle named Birdie. She is looking forward to seeing you and your furry family at A-1 Vet Care soon!

Cierra
Cierra is a 2018 graduate of Kent State Tuscarawas where she completed the Veterinary Technology Program and later passed her licensing exam to become a Registered Veterinary Technician. Cierra currently resides in Fresno with her husband and their two children. She enjoys spending time with her family and being around all of the animals on their hobby farm which consists of dogs, cats, goats, bunnies, horses, chickens and turkeys. She looks forward to meeting all of your furry family members!

Kayla
Kayla is a 2018 graduate of Kent State Tuscarawas where she completed the Veterinary Technology Program. She then passed her licensing exam becoming a Registered Veterinary Technician. She currently resides in Coshocton with her boyfriend, their daughter, and their 3 dogs, Loki, Hela, and Thor. She enjoys spending time with her family, crocheting, baking, and spending time on her family’s Scottish Highland cow farm. She can’t wait to meet all of your furry family members!

Brittney has been with A-1 Vet Care since 2017. She graduated from River View High School in 2018 and is currently in college to become a registered vet tech. She has a beautiful daughter named Kenzlee, a crazy dog named Nitro, and three outside kitties that keep her busy! She is looking forward to taking care of your fur babies and family!

Josie is a 2019 graduate of Coshocton High School. She enjoys spending time outdoors with family and friends. Josie has three dogs and a rabbit that she adores. She is looking forward to meeting you and taking care of your fur family.

I graduated from River View High School in 2020. I have 3 dogs, 4 cats, and 4 rabbits. All of their names begin with a “B”! I am currently in school to become a Vet Tech. I look forward to taking care of your fur babies!

Teresa
Teresa has been with A-1 Vet Care for 30 years and usually can be found talking with clients on the phone or in person. Teresa and her husband David enjoy their family farm raising crops. Teresa has two grandchildren that reside in Granville with her son Daniel and daughter-in-law, Mandy. Teresa has spent a lifetime caring for animals. Her family has three French Bulldogs named Nelly, Bleu, and Louis who are cared for by A-1 and frequently visit. She hopes to see you and your furry family at A-1 Vet Care soon!

Rachel

Rachel graduated from John Glenn High School in 2017 then continued her studies at The Ohio State University where she graduated in 2021 with a degree in Agriculture. While attending Ohio State ATI, she took extra courses in equine management and production, with a focus on reproduction. The knowledge she learned in college has allowed her to enhance her own Belgian draft horse farm. She took over her grandmother’s horse farm after college and currently has 3 mares; Tina, Mae Mae and De De, including one baby for 2024 named Fenix. Along with her horses, she has a dog named Comet and 2 cats named Luna and Louie. She currently resides with her grandmother and brother in Adamsville. When Rachel was 9 years old, her grandmother brought a team of Belgian draft horses and ever since she has been hooked! She is looking forward to seeing all of your furry family members!

Ryann is a 2022 River View High School graduate. She also graduated from the cosmetology program at the Coshocton County Career Center in 2022. Ryann has worked at A 1 Kennel Care for the past 3 ½ years, and currently still works there as well. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with family and her boyfriend. She has 4 dogs, 1 cat, 2 rabbits, and many farm animals. Ryann looks forward to seeing you and your fur babies soon!

Dr. Natasha Weaver-Dyer

Dr. Dyer only offers virtual appointments, which we are not providing at this time.

Dr. Dyer, a native of rural Ohio, grew up surrounded by animals on her family farm in Hardin County. Inspired by her upbringing and a family connection to veterinary medicine, she pursued her passion at The Ohio State University, graduating in 2009.

Serving as the Managing Vet at Oates Veterinary Clinic since 2022, Dr. Dyer enjoys performing surgeries and mentoring students. Living on the family farm with her husband, children, dogs, and cats, Dr. Dyer balances her clinic duties with managing their flock of Tunis sheep and participating in community activities.
